Ladakh gets first community radio station

During the inaugural ceremony of the Community Radio Station Rgazom (90.8 MHz) at Army Good Will School Harka Bahadur, Kargil.

Ladakh’s first Community Radio Station Rgazom (90.8 MHz) was inaugurated by Lt. General Anindya Sen Gupta on September 4 at Army Good Will School Harka Bahadur, Kargil.

Lt. General Anindya Sen Gupta said it is a moment of pride that Ladakh’s first community radio station will be on air which will specifically focus on youth and women empowerment. He said all sections of society will get benefit from this community radio station and it will contribute to the socio-economic growth of the Kargil district.

The community radio will air information, entertainment, and news-related programs in Balti, Purgi, and Hindi.

Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve; SSP Kargil Anayat Ali Chowdhury; ADC Kargil, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Wani; SE Irrigation and Flood Control Maqbool Hussain; Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Wilayat Hussain Wazir besides other concerned officials were present during the ceremony.

Later, Lt. General visited Veer Sthal, War Memorial at Kurbathang and paid rich tributes to martyrs, and hoisted a 40-feet long National Flag. He also unveiled statues of Martyrs and Veer Chakra awardees, Fateh Mohammad and Tsewang Rigzin, both belonging to Kargil at Veer Sthal War Memorial.
