Ladakh celebrates National Science Day

Commemorating the discovery of “Raman Effect” by Nobel Laureate Indian Physicist C.V. Raman, National Science day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on February 28 at Cultural academy, Leh.

The day was organised by Ladakh Science Foundation with an aim to create an environment for young minds in order to accelerate the curiosity to learn science and make scientific knowledge-based society. More than 200 students participated. 

Science quiz, debate, test of scientific temper programmes were conducted for the participating students.

Dr. S.D Namgyal, Chairman, NSD-2020 highlighted the importance of celebrating National Science Day. While, Tsering Tashi, Founder LSF presented (via Skype) about the vision, objectives, and activities of Ladakh Science Foundation and various scholarship schemes. 

Dr. Tsering Stobdan, Scientist, DIHAR-DRDO; Dr. Tsewang Namgyal, Director, Snow Leopard Conservation, Dr. Tashi Ldawa, Vice-Principal, EJM College, Dr. Smanla Tondup, Genetic Scientist, USA - via Skype and Kunzes Dolma, Researcher, Iceland-via Skype also spoke on the occasion. 
  
Winners of the various events, district position holders in 12th and 10th examinations and students with special achievements at national levels were felicitated.

Meanwhile, the day was celebrated in collaboration with Govt. Degree College (GDC), Kargil.
