Ladakh administration finalizes Annual Action Plan under Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana

Advisor Ladakh Dr. Pawan Kotwal chaired the UT Level Committee meeting for approving the Annual Action Plan under PMAAGY at Civil Secretariat, Leh on July 5.

The committee approved the action plan proposed by the districts with certain modifications. PMAAGY is a centrally sponsored scheme whereby a sum of Rs. 20.38 Lakh per village is provided as a gap-filling fund to transform villages with significant tribal populations into model villages (Adarsh gram) having saturated basic services and adequate infrastructure through convergence of government schemes so as to enable the villagers to develop their potential for a meaningful contribution to the economy and society.

Advisor said that the Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAAGY) holds immense significance in the administration’s efforts to uplift villages in Ladakh and stated that the administration’s aim is to create self-reliant and prosperous villages, where the tribal population can unleash their true potential. By prioritizing the needs and aspirations of the villagers, he expressed confidence that the Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana will bring about positive transformations, foster inclusive growth, and contribute to the overall development of the region.

Commissioner/Secretary Social and Tribal Welfare Padma Angmo presented the overview of the scheme after which the District plans were presented,
Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Santosh Sukhadeve informed that several villages have been selected under the scheme in Kargil district in 2021-2022. These include, Batambiss, Kaksar, Pandrass, Chulichan Sodth, Foker, Kukshow, Lankerchay Brok, Itchoo, Rangdum, Zangla, Kargyak, Lalung, Choskore-B, Karpokhar,

In 2022-2023 villages such as Shilikchay, Barchay, Garkone, Matayeen, Shimsha, Karit, Wakha, Hagnis, Trespone, G.M Pore, Karchaykhar, Karsha have been identified under the scheme he added.  

Further, he shared that under PMAAGY sanitation facilities, construction of footpaths; teaching and learning materials for Aganwadi Centres; repairs/renovation/furniture/furnishing/tour programme of schools, oxygen concentrators in Health and Wellness Centres; Agriculture and allied activities, an incentive for organic manure/vermicompost; establishment of backyard poultry units & provision of cattle feed; clearance of zamindari khul damaged/filled by a landslide at various places shall be taken up.

Chief Planning Officer, Tsewang Gyalson shared that 14 villages in district Leh have been identified under the scheme these include Diger, Hunder, and Largyab in Nubra Sub-Division; Kharnak in Nyoma; Shachukul and Rumbak in Durbuk; Sumdha Chenmo and Markha in Leh and Photoksar, Yulchung and Dipling in Khaltsi. Proposals for the FY 2021-2022 include a Skill development centre at Diger; installation of solar submersible pumps at Hunder; construction of a footpath to Khagog Gonpa Youlchung among others. Whereas for the FY 2022-2023, he shared that infrastructure development projects such as the installation of solar submersible pumps at Markha village, construction of a Library at Shachukul, and construction of a footpath at Techa Gompa among others shall be taken up.

The meeting was attended by all Administrative Secretaries, and Deputy Commissioner, Leh/Kargil.
