Labour Department, Kargil organises awareness programme on labour welfare schemes

A day-long awareness programme on labour welfare schemes for public representatives and PRI members was held on November 23 at Shakar Chiktan.

The awareness camp was organised by the Department of Labour, Kargil as a part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration. BDC Chairperson, Syeda Bano, Sarpanchs, Panchs, Naib Sarpanchs, Nambardars besides the sub-divisional officers attended.

Assistant Commissioner Labour (ALC), Kargil, Raziya Khatoon briefed the participants about various labour welfare schemes like scholarships, medical assistance, disability assistance, and other allied schemes. She also enlightened in detail about the registration of unorganized workers on the E-Shram Portal, its benefits, documents required, and the process of registration on the portal.

She also spoke about the labour laws and labour rights under various acts like the Payment of Wages Act and the Equal Remuneration Act. This was followed by a brainstorming session wherein various questions put forth by the public representatives and PRI members were responded to by the ALC Kargil. She also thanked the public representatives for sparing time to attend the programme and urged them to spread the message so that maximum labourers get themselves registered with the Labour Department to avail benefits. 

Public representatives expressed gratitude to the Department of Labour for organizing the awareness programme.

ALC Kargil also interacted with the BRO labourers working with road projects and imparted different labour friendly schemes.
