The Labour Department, UT Ladakh, conducted an awareness camp for unorganised workers at the New Terminal Building of Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Airport, Leh, on October 7.

The Administrative Secretary, Labour and Employment Department, UT Ladakh, and the Assistant Labour Commissioner, Leh, along with Labour Department officials and staff from the Common Service Centres (CSCs), attended the camp.

Organised in collaboration with the CSCs, the awareness camp aimed to facilitate on-the-spot enrolment of eligible workers under various government pension schemes.

During the camp, officials briefed workers about the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM), National Pension Scheme for Traders (NPS-Traders), and Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana (PM-KMY). They explained the eligibility criteria and benefits available under the respective pension schemes.

The Labour Department urged unorganised workers to make maximum use of the Government’s social security initiatives and avail themselves of the benefits available under these schemes.

Participating workers expressed willingness to enrol in the pension schemes to secure their future and access the social security benefits provided by the Government.

The awareness drive will continue until October 15 and will cover various areas of Leh, Nubra and Changthang. The initiative aims to reach out to eligible unorganised workers and facilitate their enrolment under the pension schemes.
