L-G Mathur visits Tarchit Phu

Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur visited  ice stupa at Tarchit Phu in Rong-Churgyud and also interacted with the villagers on March 2.

LG Mathur appreciated Deachen Zangpo, Jigmet Chozang and Rinchen Angchuk- the group from Tarchit that built the 150 ft high Ice Stupa. LG Mathur also visited the Draphugs (meditation cave) in the village.

Councillor, Kungyam Constituency, Thinles Nurboo, requested construction of ice hockey rinks in all villages of Rong and the declaration of Rong-Churgyud Changthang as a special tourism zone for the promotion and development of the Rong area.

Nambardar, Tarchit, Tsewang Namgyal requested for conducting a feasibility study to explore the potential of tourism activities such as trekking and hiking, the rich heritage and spiritual history of the village, rock climbing and camping sites in Tarchit. He also requested for homestay amenities, construction of an ice hockey rink at Tarchit Phu, establishing a cultural centre, library/tourist facility centre and construction of a helipad at Tarchit Phu.

Sarpanch, Hemya, Phuntsog Nurboo shared the issues faced by the people in the Rong-Churgyud area, viz. the need for 4G mobile network in Tarchit Phu and Hemya village for internet facility, relocation of block headquarter to Hemya, upgradation of infrastructure and construction of library complex, play area and science lab at Government Middle School in Tarchit and Hemya, construction of solarised quarters for doctors at Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Hemya, putting up chain link fence to protect agricultural fields from wild animals and motorable bridge at Hemya Farka, etc.

The Self-Help Group (SHG) of Ama Tsogspa requested for handicraft equipment, trainings to the members of the SHG and the provision of direct selling of their products to derive maximum value.

LG Mathur inquired about the construction of the road under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), the stocking of medicines at PHC Hemya and the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission work in the village.

SDM Nyoma, health officials, villagers and other district officials were present on the occasion.
