L-G, Mathur inaugurates solar submersible carbon-neutral pump at Latoo, Kargil  Also chairs valedictory function of Skill Development Workshop Kaushal Mela

Lieutenant Governor Radha Krishna Mathur inaugurating A 41 HP (50 KW) solar submersible carbon-neutral pump at Latoo, Kargil.
Kargil :

A 41 HP (50 KW) solar submersible carbon-neutral pump was inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor Radha Krishna Mathur on March 24 at Latoo.

The pump has a water lifting capacity at a direct head range of 130-160 meters that discharges water at 54 cubic meters per hour.

Chairman and CEC, Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan, Executive Councillor for Social Welfare Aga Syed Hassan Armaan, EC Mubarak Shah Naqvi, DC/CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Santosh Sukhadeve, SSP Kargil Anayat Ali Choudhary besides district officers were present on the occasion. 

L G Mathur congratulated CEC Kargil, former DC Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary and KREDA for making this project successful. He further stated that with the coming up of the solar submersible pump a long pending demand of Latoo village has been fulfilled which will enhance irrigation and ease daily life in the village. Responding to the memorandum submitted by the villagers, LG said that UT Administration and the LAHDC Kargil both will do the needful to address their demands. 

He said that there is no dearth of funds but the major challenge is to ensure proper utilization of these funds. He further urged the villagers to take up the responsibility to ensure judicious use, maintenance, and proper water distribution from this project. 

The LG Ladakh also interacted with public delegations at Latoo village. He said that the people of Latoo village have gone through tough times and assured support from the UT Administration in addressing their issues.

CEC Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan informed that the solar water pump was taken as a pilot project for which ₹ 30 lakh was provided by the LAHDC, Kargil, and ₹20 lakh by KREDA. 
 
The LG later chaired the valedictory session of Kaushal Mela-Skill Development Workshop organised by the Department of Technical Education and Skill Development and Information and Public Relations Department Ladakh at the Auditorium Hall, Kargil. 

Expressing happiness and satisfaction on the overwhelming participation of youth in the workshop, he said that the youth are the future who has the responsibility to enhance Ladakh’s economy. 

It was informed that the Government of India is focusing on skill development among youth to ensure more intakes in private jobs and entrepreneurship. Taking an example of South Korea where 94 percent of people have developed different skills, LG urged the youth to learn skills in different trades and take maximum benefits from such workshops.

He further added that the UT Administration Ladakh is looking forward to developing different job-oriented and Ladakh relevant skill development courses to make the local youth skillful. As an instance, he cited plumbing, electrician works, carpentry, pashmina production, sea buckthorn production, animal and sheep husbandry sector, and other related sectors where the local youth can take private jobs and also become entrepreneurs after acquiring the necessary technical skills.

Later, LG visited Public Library in Kargil Town where the members of the Students’ Education Movement of Ladakh briefed him about the various facilities which need to be developed in the library. The SEMOK delegation urged to dismantle the existing building and construct a new one to ensure more intake and facilities in the library.
