L-G holds meeting with departmental secretaries, reviews work  progress

Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) held a meeting with administrative secretaries on March 8 and discussed the progress of development works of their respective departments along with future work targets, at Raj Niwas.

 LG emphasised that the administrative secretaries must ensure the progress of their respective departments for the well-being of the people of Ladakh and for the overall development of the region. He stressed the need for continuous meetings of the administrative secretaries for the redressal of the issues faced by the people of Ladakh. He inquired of the administrative secretaries about their pending works and instructed them to ensure that no work is left pending and also to take suo moto action in the overall interest and benefit of the people of Ladakh.

LG inquired about various issues and demands of the people of Ladakh, including funding for the Haj Committee of Ladakh, the activation of the grievance redressal cell in Ladakh, relaxation, if any, in norms for the recruitment of teachers and the recruitment of Associate Professors in University of Ladakh. He impressed upon the administrative secretaries and concerned officials to maintain and follow transparency, accountability, probity, equal dispensation, self-audit and mid-course correction while carrying out their duties to ensure the welfare and development of Ladakh.

He informed the departmental secretaries about his plan to constitute an immediate Assistance Cell comprising representatives from Hill Council Leh and Kargil, Army, Police, Air Force and the concerned stakeholders and hold meetings at regular intervals to address the issues faced by the people of Ladakh. Such meetings would help build trust among the public and also benefit the people of Ladakh, he said.

The departmental secretaries and concerned officials informed HLG about the pending works in their departments, the issues faced by them and the timeline in which the work is expected to be completed.
