KVK SKUAST-Leh conducts training on seed and soil treatment

Around 20 field functionaries participated in the training programme on ‘Demonstration on seed and soil treatment with fungicides and bio-fungicides’ and ‘Integrated Disease Management’ held on November 24.

The trainINg programme was organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, SKUAST-K Leh under DST-SEED (ITI) Project. Dr. F D Sheikh, Head, KVK, Leh supervised the training.

Seed-borne and soil-borne diseases caused severe damage to the crop in the last few years in the Ladakh region.

Dr. Vikas Gupta, Scientist (Plant Protection) KVK-Leh/ Principal Investigator, DST-SEED (ITI) apprised the agriculture officers about the integrated management of pests. He said that sanitation of the orchards is the easiest, economical, and most effective way to avoid the pests problem by providing an environment that discourages pests. 

Practical demonstration of seed treatment and soil treatment with fungicide and bio-fungicide was also imparted to the officers of the department. 

Dr. Vikas briefed about the seed treatment and soil treatment with fungicides and bio-fungicides, biological control of pests, and integrated pest management. 

Dr. Stanzin Dorjey and Rigzin Dolkar, Project staff, DST-SEED, KVK Leh were also present on the occasion.
