After the clearance of heavy accumulation of snow avalanches on the Kargil-Zanskar national highway, the road was reopened for vehicular movement on March 12.

Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Sankoo, Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani said due to heavy avalanches at different places on the highway, traffic movement was halted for few days.

He said due to the tireless efforts of the concerned departments, now the highway has been cleared from the snow avalanches and today 34 light LMVs carrying 259 passengers including women and children crossed Penzila pass from Zanskar towards Kargil.
