Kargil observes martyrdom anniversary of Harzat- E-Imam, Ali (A.S)

Martyrdom anniversary of the first Shia Imam, Harzat-e-Imam Ali (A.S) was observed in Kargil on April 23.

The congregation rally was organised by Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust(IKMT), and Anjuman-e-Jamiat Ul Ulama Isna Asharia in Kargil. Thousands of people participated in the procession. The mourners in black clads, beating their chests and reciting lamentations remembered the greatest martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Ali (A.S)

Religious scholars paying tributes to the martyrs of Karbala, the mourners said these commemorations are aimed at renewing their pledge of allegiance to the teachings and ideals of Imam Hussain and his loyal companions who sacrificed their lives to safeguard the true essence of Islam.

The administration has made all arrangements for the smooth conduct of the processions, which include sanitation, health camps, ambulance services etc.

Meanwhile, another congregation were witnessed in Sankoo organized by Anjuman-e-Sahib Zaman, Sankoo. The mourning procession was taken out from Imam Barah Zenabiya thang which after passing through  Main market Sankoo and concluded at Mani Sports Stadium Sankoo.

Hujatul islam wamislimmen Sheikh Sadiq Balagee chairman of Anjuman-e-sahib zaman Sankoo(Suru)elaborated on the philosophy practice by  Harzat Imam Hussain (AS) and urges people to mould their lives around this philosophy.

The day was commemorated in different other parts of the district.

On the 19th of Ramazan 40 AH (27 January AD 661), Imam Ali was struck on the head with a poison-coated sword during the morning prayers in the Great Mosque of Kufa. He passed away two days later. The night preceding Imam Ali’s martyrdom is considered to be one of the threefold Qadr (Destiny) Nights, when the Holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) more than 14 centuries ago.

Muslims hold night-long vigils on Qadr Nights, reciting the Holy Quran and praying until dawn.
