Kargil celebrates 71st Constitution Day

The 71st anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India (Constitution Day/Samvidhan Divas, 2020) was celebrated at Council Secretariat LAHDC, Kargil.
 
Acting Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil, Mubarak Shah Naqvi said that the preamble of the Indian Constitution declares India as a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic and aims to secure justice, liberty, equality to all citizens and promote fraternity to maintain unity and integrity of the nation.
 
While highlighting the contribution of the architect of the Constitution of India, Bharat Ratna, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar who was also the Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee, stressed the need to uphold and protect the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India and ideals and institutions included in the Constitution.
 
The Preamble reading ceremonies were organized at the council Secretariat, LAHDC, Kargil, Deputy Commissioner Office Kargil, and all the Government offices/ institutions and other establishments in the district.
 
The speakers on the occasion while throwing light on the salient features of the Constitution termed the Constitution as “a living machinery and vehicle of life” and a “holy book” stressed the need to renew our commitment to uphold and practice the principles and values enshrined in our Constitution.
 
As a part of the celebrations, Government Degree College organized a webinar on the theme Relevance and Importance of Constitution Day. Speakers from Delhi University and the University of Ladakh briefed about the different aspects of the Constitution.
