CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon visited Suru valley sub-division on January 17 and assessed the pace of various development works.

During the tour, Dr. Jaffer inaugurated the recently renovated J&K Bank building in Taisuru and Saliskote. He also visited the Community Health Centre (CHC) Sankoo and Government High School Sangrah.

Expressing his congratulations to the residents of Taisuru and Saliskote, Dr. Jaffer highlighted the positive impact these facilities would have on their socio-economic conditions. Emphasising the importance of customer service, he urged for the provision of better services and facilities.

Dr. Jaffer reaffirmed the LAHDC's commitment to the overall development of Kargil. He mentioned the prompt actions taken on critical issues with the Union Territory administration, securing funds for annual wages, pensions, and educational aid for the labor community.’

Several initiatives were highlighted, including efforts to ensure equal opportunities in police recruitment for Kargil residents, reduced fares for students and patients at Kargil House in Srinagar and Jammu, and a commitment to lower e-bus fares in response to public demand.

CEC announced the revival of Parkachik Kul with a sanctioned budget of ₹3 crore, aiming to operationalise the project. A potential 5 MW electricity project is under consideration. Furthermore, a ₹54 crore Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Suru Valley Grid Station has been submitted for approval.

Responding to the request for a submersible pump at J&K Bank Taisuru, Dr. Jaffer assured the allocation of funds under untied resources. Regarding concerns about the Office Complex in Taisuru and toilet facilities at Tehsil Headquarters, he assured appropriate measures would be taken.

Dr. Jaffer directed J&K Bank authorities to explore options for installing ATMs at Saliskote and Taisuru.

During the visit to CHC Sankoo, Dr. Jaffer congratulated the BMO and the team for achieving State Certification under National Quality Assurance Standards (NQSA) for the year 2023-24. He encouraged them to continue providing quality healthcare.

The CEC also visited the medicine and surgery ward of CHC, interacting with patients and addressing various hospital-related issues.

At Govt. High School Sangrah, Dr. Jaffer engaged with students, assessed the facilities for winter residential classes, and advised students to maximize the benefits provided by the UT Administration to excel in their upcoming CBSE exams.

Accompanying the CEC during the tour were Councilor Parkachik, Syed Ainul Huda, Councilor Saliskote, Sajjad Hussain, former EC Syed Abbas Razvi, Zonal Head J&K Bank, Dorje Angchuk, Cluster Head, Ishfaq Ahmed Haqaq, along with other concerned officers.
