Continuing the ongoing beautification and clearance drive in Kargil town, the District Administration on May 20 began removing unused electric poles and unnecessary overhead wires from Lok Niwas Kargil to Baroo Main Bazar via Titichumik.

The drive was carried out under the supervision of Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kargil, Ghulam Mohd, as part of a larger initiative launched under the directions of Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, to enhance the aesthetic appeal of Kargil town and ensure smoother movement for commuters.

During the operation, several unused poles and redundant wires were removed from various locations along the route. Officials informed that around 40 more unused poles have been identified in the area and will be removed in a phased manner over the coming days.

The administration stated that the drive is being conducted in coordination with the Municipal Committee Kargil, Revenue Department, Power Development Department, BSNL, and other telecom agencies. Authorities also appealed to the public to cooperate with the ongoing campaign aimed at making Kargil cleaner, safer, and more visually appealing.
