Kargil and Leh united against J&K High Court’s decision of removing reservation Ladakh Region Joint Action Committee for Protection of Reservation formed

A daylong  meeting between Kargil-Leh was organized on 15th December by Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) Leh at Hotel Grand Dragon on  15 December. 
It concluded with the formation of Ladakh Region Joint Action Committee for Protection of Reservation, a big step against the J&K High Court’s decision that came on 9 October this year of removing reservation for gazette government employees.

The guests present were representatives of EJAC Kargil, the religious and political heads of Kargil and Leh, representative of Woman Alliance Leh and the Youth wings of the religious communities of Leh. 

The members present in the meeting unanimously agreed that a committee needs to be formed in order to fight strongly and legally against the high court’s decision of removing reservation for gazetted officers. And therefore, by the end of the meeting a total of 32 member committee, 16 members each from Kargil and Leh was formed.
It was also emphasized that the Religious Community Heads of both Kargil and Leh will be working in the forefront with support from the political leaders with EJAC and its government employees backing them.

Any decision regarding protest rally or chakka jam will be coordinated by both the districts on the same day. The youth wings of the religious communities are also a part of the committee as their role is been considered crucial in making this stand stronger. A decision has also been made that various Students Association of Delhi, Jammu, Chandigarh will also be informed of these developments.  The committee members also decided that Ladakh will observe a complete shut down on 22 December showing condemnation against HCs decision.  

The head committee members of Leh Chapter are Tsewang Thinles, President LBA as Chairman, Ashraf Ali Barcha, President Anjuman-e-Imamiya and Sheikh Saifuddin, President Anjuman-moin-ul-Isalm as Vice Chairmen, P.T Kunzang, Vice President LBA as Spokes Person, E.S Gergan as General Secretary and the Religious Youth wings as Organisers. 

However in Kargil, the committee is being headed by two coordinators Sheikh Abdullah Jalili of Islamia School Kargil and Molana Abbass Karrarvi Chairman IKMT and rest of the representatives are members of the committee.

At present, the Supreme Court has given an interim relief on the case. The main aim of the committee is to strongly voice against the J&K High Court’s decision before the winter session of the State Assembly begins in January.
