Jio launches mobile services in Suru Valley

During the inauguration of five Jio 4G mobile towers sanctioned under the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) in Suru valley.

Five Jio 4G mobile towers sanctioned under the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) in Suru valley was inaugurated by the Feroz Ahmed Khan, CEC, Kargil on November 13.

The towers have been set up at Umba, Sangrah, Gyaling, Parkachik, and Rangdum villages to provide better services to residents in the remote parts of the district. 

Feroz Ahmed Khan congratulated the people of Suru valley for getting better access to mobile connectivity through the operation of these 4G towers. He said that more such towers are in the pipeline which would be dedicated to the public in the coming days. He further said that the installation of the 4G towers in the area would boost educational activities and will also help students with their studies in the current pandemic situation.

He thanked the Union Minister for Telecommunication, Ravi Shankar Prasad, and MP Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal for sanctioning 23 towers for Kargil district. Also, he hailed the efforts of Jio State Head Shehzan Hamid; Sales Manager Ladakh, Basharat Sofi; TSM Kargil Manzoor Ahmed; Sales Distributor, Jio Kargil, Muhammad Amin Zothpa besides the technical team of Jio for expediting the works on the installation of the towers.

CEC Kargil assured the locals that the LAHDC, Kargil is committed to connecting all the regions of the district digitally and said that all possible cooperation would be extended by the LAHDC, Kargil to the telecom companies about expediting the cases of land allocation for installation of mobile towers, taking up of the issues of NOC with the concerned authorities for installation of towers in border areas besides other required support.
