J&K High Court goes video conferencing, adjudicate 4 cases

The proceedings of the 9 cases at the Jammu and Kashmir High Court bench were carried out through video –conferencing on March 14 at Principal District and Session Court, Leh.

Justice Tashi Rabstan, Judge High Court, Jammu delivered the judgement in four cases out of the nine cases. While, in other cases government officers were directed to follow by next hearing in April, 2018.      

Sunit Gupta, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Leh and Dinesh Gupta, Chief Judicial Magistrate/ Sub-Judge Leh were present.
 
The parties to the cases participated in the proceedings via video conferencing.

Talking about the benefits of the digitization judiciary, Otsal Wangdus, President Bar Association, Leh said, “This is a landmark and will definitely help the people of Ladakh to approach the High Court to redress their grievances. Petitioner can participate in the court proceedings without physically appearing in the court”.
“Earlier the person has to go Jammu or Srinagar and appear in the court for the case which becomes expensive and time consuming but with the video conferencing initiative justice will be delivered speedily and without bearing many expenses.”

The new initiative seems big relief to the people of far flung areas as the justice delivery expedites and also become inexpensive.
