Students from the Floriculture and Landscaping trade at ITI Leh are currentlyt participating in a short-term training program at the Institute of Himalayan Bio Resource Technology (CSIR-IHBT) in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, from March 15 to 25.

Thirteen students along with a faculty member are presently at IHBT Palampur for the ten-day program, receiving hands-on training and mentorship from faculty and experts at CSIR-IHBT. The training curriculum encompasses various topics, including cultivation techniques, plant propagation, pest management, and post-harvest handling. It involves interactive sessions, field visits, and practical exercises.

This training initiative is part of the ‘Skill Immersion Programme’ of LSDM where students of Industrial Training Institutes are attached to renowned national institutes for two to six weeks to receive hands-on training, industry exposure, mentorship and technology integration.

The initiative was launched in 2023 by the Ladakh Skill Development Mission, wherein 14 students specializing in the 'Motor Mechanic Vehicle' trade from ITI Leh and Kargil were sent to the Central Farm Machinery Training and Testing Institute (CFMTTI) in Budhni, Madhya Pradesh, for a 40-day training session in October 2023. Subsequently, in October 2023, students of the 'Electrician' trade also underwent an 18-day training program at CFMTTI, Budhni.

LSDM is collaborating with other national institutes for extending ‘Skill Immersion Programme’ to students of the Industrial Training Institutes.
