International Yoga Day celebrated at Pangong with locals, tourists, and students

To commemorate International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025, the Directorate of AYUSH, under the National AYUSH Mission (NAM), UT Ladakh, in collaboration with the State Medicinal Plants Board (SMPB), UT Ladakh, organized a rejuvenating yoga session at the scenic Pangong Lake in Merak Village on June 21. The event aimed to promote physical, mental, and spiritual well-being through the ancient practice of yoga.

Over 100 participants took part enthusiastically, including more than 20 tourists, local residents of Merak, and students from nearby schools.

The session was inaugurated by Dr. Tashi Thinles, Director of Health Services, UT Ladakh, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The yoga session was led by trained instructor Stanzin Youdon, who guided participants through a series of yoga asanas and breathing techniques in alignment with the Common Yoga Protocol.

Dr. Tashi Thinles, along with officials from the Directorate of Health Services, National AYUSH Mission, and SMPB, visited the Health Sub-Centre in Merak village, reinforcing their dedication to strengthening community health through outreach and wellness initiatives.

The event brought together tourists, locals, students, and health officials in a shared celebration of mindfulness and well-being, resonating with the global theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” It highlighted the unifying power of yoga and underscored Ladakh’s commitment to preserving and promoting traditional health systems.

The National AYUSH Mission, UT Ladakh, extended heartfelt gratitude to all participants and supporters and looks forward to continued collaboration in advancing wellness across the region.
