International Anti-Corruption Day: Youth Action Committee, Kargil organises one-day conference

Observing International Anti-Corruption Day 2021, Youth Action Committee Kargil organized a day-long conference themed, ‘How to stop the menace of corruption’ on December 9  at Conference Hall Baroo.

CEC, Hill Council, Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan congratulated members of Youth Action Committee Kargil for organizing the conference to impart awareness among masses against corruption, which is a real hindrance to the growth and progress in any society. He urged people to exercise the rights provided by the Constitution of India and raise their voices against corruption.

He said that the only way forward to stop the menace of corruption is collective efforts by all stakeholders and to make the government responsible for development and progress. He emphasized that people should come forward to report complaints against any sort of inappropriate use of public funds and further stressed to avoid unnecessary generalizations.

LAHDC Kargil is fully committed to delivering fair governance to the people of Kargil and the commitment would not be compromised at any level, he added.

Additional SP Iftikhar Ahmed Choudhary while interacting with the audience briefed about the menace of corruption in society and further said that religious institutions have to play a vital role to impart awareness against corruption. He urged religious clerks to spread awareness among the general public during their sermons and through religious platforms.

Iftikhar Ahmed said that self-introspection is needed before pointing fingers at others.
Principal Government Degree College, Zanskar, Nasser Shabani said that at the school level, lessons about integrity should be taught to students, to build a positive mindset at the beginning of their growth and development. 

Earlier, student representatives from various religious and civil society organizations delivered lectures on the topic and highlighted the ill effects of corruption.
