Indian Youth Parliament held in Leh Gyal P Wangyal encourages youth to take part in politics and media

Indian youth parliament, a Himalayan session on ‘Social awareness and Entrepreneurship in Youth’ with special reference to enhance the geo-culture diversity of Himalayan Region held for two days on June 21 and 22 at Nagarjuna Auditorium, CIBS, Choglamsar.

The seminar was organised by Media Foundation in association with Government of Jammu and Kashmir, LAHDC Leh, CIBS, Mahabodhi International Mediation Centre Leh and EJM College Leh. 

Around 500 students from different schools and EJM College participated in the parliament.

Chief Guest of the inaugural day, Prof. (Dr.) M. S. Parmar, Vice Chancellor, Kushabhau Thakre University of Journalism and Mass Communication, Chhattisgarh talked about the importance of media and its role.
 
Expressing the need of various educational institution in the region he said, “There is a need to look into the matter to develop and establish an institution for higher education in the region for an overall development. If there is a choice of an excellent educational institution in Ladakh, then students from other states can also come and pursue their education. I feel that there shouldn't be an issue for the others also when students of Ladakh can study outside. "

He stressed upon and asked to work for developing and establishing the well known and reputed institution in Ladakh.

Prof. (Dr.) M. S. Parmar also focused on social awareness for a change and development. Encouraging youths to take part actively in media, he assured his support if Leh seeks for establishing an institution for Journalism. 

Gyal P Wangyal, EC Health encourages youths to take part in politics and media for change and development in the society. He asked them to explore various opportunities and scope rather than looking into one line. 

Geshes Konchok Wangdus, Director CIBS expressed the importance of such program in Ladakh region which creates a platform for the youth to interact with experts in different fields.  

Talking about the growing suicide cases and mental illness in the developed countries, he said that there is a need to bring some changes in the education system to ensure inner peace and mental development.  He stressed about youths to seek answers for every doubt and analyze on it before jumping on to the conclusion and also learn about human responsibility along with the rights for better tomorrow. 

Wangchuk Shamshu, Director, Himalayan Heli services shared about the start of Heli services in the year 2002 to cater to the rising demand for flying pilgrimage shuttle services. From 2009, they also started conducting geophysical services for Atomic Mineral Directorate and National Geophysical Research Institute. 

Ven. Ngawang Tashi Bapu, Director, Central Institute of Himalayan Culture Studies, Arunachal Pradesh stressed the importance of understanding the four noble truth preached by Buddha for living a happy life. 

Eminent scholars, socio-political activists, policymakers and journalists addressed the youth about issues concerning today’s youth in the Himalayan regions. The experts from a different walk of life shared their views, experiences and answered the questions of the youths.
