Hundreds of students participate in yoga at EJM College

Hundreds of students participated in the 3rd International Yoga day organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Leh in collaboration with NSS Wing, Eliezer Joldan Memorial College, Leh on 21 June at EJM College ground.

Mike Narada, Yoga instructor taught 10 asanas to the students, guests and teachers. 

Dr. Sonam Dawa, chief guest said, “In Buddhism, we believe that we should control our body, mind and soul in order to get happiness, the same thing is in Yoga also. It is a good habit to practice yoga in daily life which helps to purify our body, mind and soul and thereby getting inner peace and prosperity”.

He further added that Yoga plays a very important role in one's physical, mental and emotional growth and it should be a part of the school curriculum. "We will discuss it in the council so that we can come up with the decision to make it a part in all schools," he added. 

Mike Narada, Yoga Instructor said, “Yoga is an art of living, with the help of yoga we can manage things easier and better in life with peace and harmony. Yoga makes one physically, mentally, and spiritually strong. Yoga has to be implemented in the school curriculum and anyone can practice”.

“We cannot say Yoga is only a physical exercise, it is like a magic in itself when we practice, it will affect our mental body, vital body, psychological and spiritual body.  This is the benefit that yoga gives as compare to any other exercises,” he added.

Taja Mul Ara, District Youth Coordinator talked about the importance of the celebration of International Yoga day.
