His holiness 14th Dalai Lama celebrated his 83rd birthday in Leh

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama celebrated the 83rd birthday with thousands of followers on July 6 at Jevetsal, Shey. People prayed for His Holiness long life.
 
The day was organised by Ladakh Buddhist Association in collaboration with Tibetan settlement of Ladakh.

His Holiness, the Dalai Lama said that the only gift he wants from the people is to practice the teachings, love, compassion and truthfulness in daily life. 
 
Stressing on the importance of living a happy life, His Holiness said that love and compassion are in everyone but the need is to make use of it. Living a happy life will boost the immune system and remain healthy. 

His Holiness highlighted the importance of studying the ancient Indian wisdom based on the teachings of the Nalanda tradition and its classical texts on psychology and dialectics. 

Praying and wishing for good health to His Holiness, Tsewang Thinles, President LBA said that it is a very blissful moment for all the people of Ladakh to have His Holiness in Ladakh.  He also expressed his hope on the Dalai Lama to visit Ladakh time and again in the future also.

He further said, " It is very fortunate for all peace lovers around the world that His Holiness has told that he will live 20 years more." 

Dr. Lobzang Sangay, President, Central Tibetan Administration, said that the year 2018 is a double celebration for the Tibetan people as Central Tibetan Administration is going to mark this year as ‘Thank You year’ to all the people around the world and especially India for the moral support towards Tibetan people.

He urged people to be little more patient on the return of His Holiness to Lhasa and the destination that the Tibetans are craving will be achieved soon.

Expressing happiness on His Holiness visit to Ladakh, Ashraf Ali Barcha, President Anjuman Imamia Leh, said, “His Holiness is the essence of love, compassion and peace, wherever he goes, he spreads these messages among the people around the world. We assure to make practical implementation of your teaching in our everyday life.”

On the day, the points that was discussed at the recently held Himalayan Buddhist conference at Delhi was presented by Lochen Rinpoche and Malin Gombo, Tawang Foundation.

Woser Rinpoche, Representative from Mongolia, Dondup Tsering, Chairman Local Tibetan Assembly, Leh and Gyal P. Wangyal, In-charge CEC, Leh also spoke on the occasion.
 
The day was celebrated with the showcasing of traditional folk dance, music and songs by different artists and singers.
