Hill Council, Leh stresses need of comprehensive S.O.P to contain COVID-19 spread

Hill Council, Leh discussed the ongoing prevailing situation in Leh district due to the sudden rise of COVID-19 cases on June 12 in Leh.

The meeting was convened by Gyal P Wangyal, CEC, Hill Council, Leh. Religious heads of Leh, Executive Councillors, MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal were present.

Taking a serious note of the abrupt rise in COVID-19 cases in Leh, the meeting discussed at length about various issues related to containment of COVID -19 spread in Leh district. 

Lapses in the handling of COVID-19 positive cases in the district need of strict implementation of home quarantine especially by civil society in view of the limited reach and manpower of Administration and Police were also discussed. 

The need for a comprehensive S.O.P as per the situation in UT Ladakh by involving all the stakeholders was discussed. In such a pandemic situation, the responsibility of civil society increases the main fold to assist the Administration in the containment of the various. 

Gyal P Wangyal in a letter to Lieutenant Governor, R.K Mathur requested his intervention in the matter on priority for framing a comprehensive S.O.P by involving all the stakeholders at the earliest.
