Hill Council, Leh, delegation calls on L-G at Raj Niwas Requests for early evacuation of stranded people to Leh

Gyal P. Wangyal, Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, Hill Council, Leh along with Tsering Sandup, Deputy Chairman and Konchok Stanzin,  EC Education on April 19 called on LG Mathur at Raj Niwas.

The delegation took up the matter of making necessary arrangements for evacuation of patients, students, pilgrims and passengers of Leh stranded in different cities of India. The delegation apprised LG Mathur that due to the prevailing lockdown situation, the stranded people of Leh are facing severe difficulties.

Gyal P. Wangyal said that Hill Council, Leh is being constantly approached by stranded people and informed that due to increasing temperature, accommodation and ration problems, they are facing genuine difficulties on many fronts including reports of depression among the elderly and students. 

The delegation requested LG Mathur for early evacuation at the earliest saying that resentment among stranded people and their families here in Leh is brewing. 

LG Mathur gave the assurance that the matter will be taken up with home ministry GoI for the evacuation at the earliest.
