Gyal P Wangyal meets DDG, USOF, Ministry of Communication Discusses dire need of communication facilities in far flung rural areas

Gyal P Wangyal, CEC, Hill Council, Leh reviewed the work status of  24 towers approved under the Universal Service Obligation fund(USOF) with Deepak Chanduka, DDG (Spl Projects), USOF, Ministry of Communications, Govt. of India on February 23 at New Delhi.

Gyal P. Wangyal provided a list of remaining unconnected villages and requested to include under USOF. Also, he requested to make DSPTs in far-off villages of Leh functional again.

Deepak Chanduka assured that DSPTs shall be reconnected and functional within a month or two.  Regarding 24 towers approved under USOF, it was informed that tenders for the same shall be awarded in the month of March 2020 and installation shall start at the earliest.  The pending unconnected villages shall be connected in a phased manner as per the list provided by Hill Council, Leh.

He also assured to visit Leh for finalizing the process.
