Govt school IBEX colony set for Model School upgrade, SED begins consultations

Discussion on the upcoming upgradation of Government School, IBEX Colony, into a model primary school.

An open discussion was held on November 13 at the DC Conference Hall regarding the upcoming upgradation of Government School, IBEX Colony, into a model primary school. The meeting brought together officials from the School Education Department (SED) and parents to deliberate on the proposed improvements.

Present at the meeting were Bhanu Prabha, Administrative Secretary, School Education Department, UT Ladakh; Tashi Dolma, Director, School Education Department; Deldan Angmo,Chief Education Officer, Leh; Padma Dechan, Zonal Education Officer, Leh; along with other officials.

The Administrative Secretary thanked parents for placing their trust in the Department and emphasized that the success of a school depends on the collective involvement of all stakeholders. She encouraged parents to continue sharing suggestions and feedback.

The Director, SED, assured that the Department would leave no stone unturned in equipping the upgraded school with all necessary facilities provided by the government—ranging from digital classrooms and improved infrastructure to dedicated teachers focused on both academic excellence and holistic development.

The Chief Education Officer noted that a School Management Committee will be constituted to ensure smooth and efficient functioning of the institution.

National awardee Sonam Gyaltson, addressing parents as the designated Headmaster of the school, assured them that students would receive the best possible facilities and access to highly competent teachers. He outlined the operational framework for the upgraded school and shared a list of proposed initiatives, including subject-specific teachers, transportation facilities, winter schooling, teacher-student adoption, student profile maintenance, vocational education, hot lunch provision, and more.
