Govt Degree College, Nubra observes International Snow Leopard Day Students were briefed about birding and the importance of keeping records of avian species

Department of Sociology and Environmental Science, Government Degree College, Nubra observed International Snow Leopard Day in collaboration with Nature Conservation Foundation(NCF) as a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration on October 23.
 
Ajay Bijoor, Assistant Director, High Altitude Program, NCF gave a detailed presentation on snow leopards and how conservation activities are carried out in the snow leopard range areas of the world.
 
Karma Sonam, Field Coordinator, High Altitude Program, NCF, who was recently awarded Natwest Group ‘Earth Hero Inspire Award 2021’ shared his rich experience in conservation activities. He highlighted the programs and activities of NCF in the Ladakh region. He also briefed the students about birding and the importance of keeping records of avian species.
 
Later, two short documentary films, including Shangdon to Stupa and Ladakh Pashmina were screened to the audience. The students were also taken to the Tsogtot wetland area for birding where few bird species were sighted. The teaching faculty and the students participated in the event.
