Govt Degree College, Drass received District Green Champion from Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE), Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, Government of India for various initiatives undertaken during the year 2021-22.

Santosh Sukhadeve, Deputy Commissioner/ CEO, LAHDC Kargil presented the award to Dr. Amjad Ali Abassi, Principal, GDC Drass.

GDC Drass has been continuously contributing to enhancing the beauty of the campus and its surrounding. The college has also campaigned against the use of plastic bags, proper disposal of garbage, cleaning of streams, town area and adjoining villages. The college organized many awareness programme for the people of Drass toward a clean and green environment. Seminars, debates, painting and poster making competition for students related to swachta of the environment was also carried out.
