Govt. Degree College, Drass holds webinar on Investor education and awareness

 A webinar themed, ‘Investor awareness: a key to financial well being’ was organised by the Department of Commerce, Government Degree College (GDC), Drass in collaboration with Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Metropolitan Stock Exchange of India (MSE) and SBI Mutual Fund on July 9.

The webinar aimed to enlighten the new investors and students who are intending to invest in securities besides educating them about the securities market and making informed decisions.

Ashish Kumar, Deputy General Manager, SEBI NRO introduced SEBI, explained its key modalities, roles and the major works done. He informed the participants about different types of primary and secondary markets, public issues and enlightened the students about the investment protection measures taken by SEBI besides the dos and don’ts of buying and selling in the securities market.

Munish Sabharwal, Senior Vice President, SBI Mutual Fund said that it is important for all of us to enjoy financial freedom. He advised the participants to start investing early and asked them to set financial goals before investing. He explained the factors which need to be evaluated before investment and said that one needs to invest in long term equity.

Khwaja Mohiuddin, Assistant President MSE spoke about the stock exchange and its role and also enlightened about depositories, clearing corporations, factors affecting the investment, and asked the participants to take into consideration these factors before investment. He also informed the participants about regulations on electronic content notes and the investor grievance redressal process.
Veene Kumari, Assistant General Manager SEBI appreciated all the speakers for educating the participants about investment in securities.

Dr Amjad Ali Abbasi, Principal, GDC Drass welcomed the speakers and all the participants. He said that awareness of the share market is the need of the hour and exhorted upon the participants to take maximum benefit from the webinar so that they too become informed investors. 

The webinar was hosted by Shujat Ali Mir, Assistant Professor Commerce and Mustafa Ali, Director Physical Education and Sports, GDC Drass in which more than 100 participants and faculty members participated.
