Government Degree College, Nubra was recognised as ‘District Green Champion Award 2021-22’ for its green initiatives to make the campus sustainable and eco-friendly.

Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Srikant Balasaheb Suse presented the award to Dr. Tsewang Motup, Principal of the College. He congratulated the entire team of Govt. Degree College Nubra.

The college has been striving to make the people of the area aware of the importance of a clean and green environment through various outreach programmes like cleanliness drives, street plays, rallies and lectures, etc.

The Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE) has recently released a list of institutions from across India, which actively participated to keep their campuses clean, green and sanitized. GDC Nubra received the ‘District Green Champion’ Award by the MGNCRE, Union Ministry of Education, under the Swachhta Action Plan 2021-22.

The parameters for the ranking included water management, use of alternative energy sources (solar energy), greenery management, waste management and land-use management on the campus boundary. The award is a national recognition for Swachhta activities in which the institution engaged during the previous years and for its future endeavours.
