Government Degree College, Nubra celebrates World Nature Conservation Day

A webinar themed, ‘Let us nurture nature, so we can have a better future was organised by Botany Department, Government Degree College (GDC), Nubra on July 28 World Nature Conservation Day.

Director, Snow Leopard Conservancy (SLC) India Trust, Leh, Dr. Tsewang Namgail shared his views on the said theme and emphasized the importance of wildlife and their vital role in the sustainability of the ecosystem. 

Principal, GDC Nubra, Dr. Tsewang Motup highlighted the importance of nature conservation and shared how the industrial revolution has been a great cause of nature’s destruction.

Assistant Professor, Botany Department, GDC Nubra, Dr. Tsetan Dolker highlighted the importance of celebrating World Nature Conservation Day. She added that humans should come together to support nature and minimize their destructive efforts. 

More than 50 participants from Ladakh as well as different parts of India participated in the webinar. 

Assistant Professor, Botany Department, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), A. K. Dwivedy; Assistant Professor, Botany Department, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, Bihar University; Dr. Aditya Abha Singh, BHU; Dr. Neha Upadhyay BHU and many students from Ladakh and outside also participated in the webinar.

There was also an interactive session among the participants at the end of the programme regarding the importance of nature conservation and human-wildlife conflicts.
