GDC, Kargil hosts students of GDC, Nubra for skill exposure

A group of students and faculty members from Government Degree College Nubra on a two-day skill exposure visit to skill centres of colleges in Kargil.
Kargil :

A group of students and faculty members from Government Degree College Nubra embarked on a two-day skill exposure visit to skill centres of colleges in Kargil.

The exposure visit is aimed at providing students with insights into a diverse range of skill courses and potential career paths through hands-on learning and interaction with trainers/ trainees. 

As a part of the two-day skill exposure programme, the participants visited GDC Kargil and visit to Government Degree College Drass is scheduled for the second day. 

The team from GDC Nubra was guided by Nodal Officer Skills, visited four skills centres at GDC Kargil including Beauty and Wellness Skill Centre, Craft and Design Centre, Housekeeping Associate Skill Centre, and Graphic Designer Skill Centre.

During the visit, the participants learned about different skill courses and skill centres established in the college. They had the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of skill courses and interact with trainers vis-a-vis trainees. 

The Nodal Officer Skills, Dr. Javed  Naqi briefed the students on various skill courses introduced in colleges by LSDM and its relevance in terms of certification and placement.

Among the trainers who have oriented the participants on skill centre, courses and opportunities included Gulzar Hussain (Trainer House Keeping), Syed Roohullah (Trainer Graphic Design), Zainab Banoo (Trainer Embroidery) and Fatima (Beauty and Wellness).

The exposure visit to the skill centres marked a significant step in enhancing students' understanding of skill-based professions and opportunities.

The visiting students and the faculty members expressed their gratitude to Principal GDC Kargil, Dr Amina Qari, Convener Skill, Prof. Parveen Fatima and trainers for the practical exposure. 

Ladakh Skill Development Mission and Higher Education Department UT Ladakh in collaboration with different Sector Skill Councils of NSDC has launched 10 NSQF aligned skill courses and established 13 skill centres in government degree colleges across Ladakh. This initiative also aligns with the vision of NEP-2020 to integrate vocational education/skilling in higher education.
