GDC Drass launches week-long PM-USHA workshop on leadership, life skills and menstrual health

Government Degree College (GDC), Drass, under the PM-USHA Gender Inclusive Equity Initiative Scheme, commenced a week-long workshop on Women Leadership, Life Skills, Stop-Motion Animation, and Menstrual Health and Hygiene in collaboration with Charkha Development Communication Network, New Delhi, on July 13.

The workshop aims to empower students by promoting leadership, creativity, life skills, gender equity and health awareness through interactive and experiential learning.

The inaugural session, held on the college campus, saw the participation of 30 students. The programme began with a welcome address by the Principal, who welcomed the resource persons—Agyat Mitra and Swati Bhatt, Peace Education and Creative Learning Facilitators from Play for Peace, Pune, along with Nitin and Ananya, Programme Managers from Charkha Development Communication Network.

In his address, the Principal highlighted the significance of the PM-USHA initiative and emphasised the importance of such workshops in nurturing leadership qualities, life skills, creativity and health awareness among students. He encouraged participants to actively engage in the sessions and make the most of the learning opportunity.

Introducing the workshop, Ananya outlined its objectives and structure, explaining how the sessions on women leadership, life skills, stop-motion animation and menstrual health are designed to build confidence, foster creativity, strengthen leadership abilities and promote awareness of health and well-being among young learners.

The inaugural session was hosted by Archo Fatima Nissa, a member of the PM-USHA committee, who thanked the resource persons, participants and committee members for their support and expressed hope for a productive and enriching week of learning.

The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, reflecting their keen interest in developing leadership skills, creative expression and awareness of important health issues.
