Free livestock feed distributed to nomads of Durbuk block

Executive Councillor for Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee distributed feeds to the livestock rearers of Kargyam and Shachukul villages free of cost through Animal and Sheep Husbandry on February 9.

Block Veterinary Officer, Animal Husbandry, Dr. Arif Hussain; Block Veterinary Officer, Sheep Husbandry, Dr. Padma Yangzom;  BDC Chairman Durbuk; Sarpanch Shachukul and Nambarder of Kargyam and Shachukul villages were present.

EC Tashi stated that the motive behind distributing free feeds to the livestock rearers of the Changthang region especially during winter is to ensure the good health of their livestock. He also said that it is essential to provide such kind of protein supplements because there is a lack of grazing pasture lands in the region during the harsh winter season.

He expressed his gratitude to the L-G Ladakh, R.K Mathur; Chairman LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson and all the concerned officers for their guidance and directions in providing these free feeds to the livestock rearers. 

The free feeds are also being distributed to the villagers of Karnak, Samad, and Dongti villages of Nyoma block.  All the villages of Changthang will get free feeds from their respective Animal and Sheep Centers in the coming days.
