LEH :
A memorandum was submitted to CEC, LAHDC, Dr. Sonam Dawa which highlighted different issues of few villages in Nubra by former Executive Councilor, Tsewang Rigzin on April 30.

A footbridge at Rongdo over Rongdo Tokpo has not been properly restored till now after being washed away by the floods last year.

He requested Dr. Dawa that concerned department be direct to immediately construct footbridge before water level in the stream increases.

Further requested was made to provide protection bunds and channelize of Khalsar Tokpo before starting of the farming season.
In view of the visit of His Holiness Skyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche in Khema-Khyungroo this year, Tsewang Rigzin requested CEC, Dr. Dawa to provide adequate funds for repairing of Khema link road. He also asked for the release of payments on the compound walling of Middle School Rasermo which was constructed by VEC last year.

Dr. Dawa assured to look into the matter and instructions issued to different agencies.

Earlier, he also met EC, Works Dorjay Motup and requested for the removal of debris accumulated by the flood last year on cultivable land and the repair of the water supply system at Khardong Pharka.

He said that if water supply system is not restored, people are compelled to drink water from the irrigation canal, sourced from the stream, which is highly intoxicant and polluted due to the presence of the military in huge numbers at North Pullu and the heavy influx of tourists. Human waste/excreta in the open areas around North Pullu are being flushed into the stream.

An immediate instruction was issued to the concerned departments to look into the issue. Executive Councillor for works issued to look into the issues raised by former Executive Councillor.
