Follow-up meeting held to mitigate dog menace SPCA to provide food to stray animals of Leh town for one month

A follow-up meeting to mitigate dog menace and draw solutions concerning stray animals in the region was chaired by Rigzin Samphel, Commissioner/Secretary Animal & Sheep Husbandry UT Ladakh on March 26. 

Samphel discussed construction requisites required for shelter for animals with Director Animal & Sheep Husbandry Dr. Mohd Raza. Disease Investigating Officer Animal Husbandry Leh Dr Stanzin Rabgias, Assistant Director Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Leh Sherab Gyaltson, General Sec. SPCA Phuntsog Wangyal and member (SPCA) Leh Diskit were also present.

SPCA team updated Comm. /Sec that they will provide food to the stray animals of Leh town and adjoining areas for one month. They said that charity and voluntary services by good Samaritans is making them convenient to render such service.    

As per long-term plan for the stray animals, a shelter with a capacity for 5000 dogs will be constructed at the allotted land at bombgarh. Comm. /Sec asserted to begin the work on its’ construction in April.
