Five-day training programme for elementary teachers begins at DIET Leh
The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Leh, in collaboration with knowledge partners Ritanjali and Pallavan Learning Systems, on July 20 inaugurated a five-day intensive training programme for elementary school teachers of Mathematics and Environmental Studies (EVS) teaching Classes III to V.
The training programme aims to equip teachers with innovative pedagogical approaches and effective classroom strategies to strengthen conceptual understanding among students, in line with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Emphasising experiential and activity-based learning, the initiative seeks to enhance foundational literacy and numeracy while improving the teaching-learning process in Environmental Studies through child-centred and hands-on methods.
As knowledge partners, Ritanjali and Pallavan Learning Systems are facilitating the sessions by drawing on their expertise in teacher capacity building, curriculum innovation, and inclusive education.
The resource persons are conducting sessions on innovative mathematics pedagogy, focusing on play-based and experiential strategies to strengthen foundational numeracy, as well as effective EVS teaching methodologies that promote exploratory learning and connect classroom concepts with real-life experiences.
The programme has brought together elementary teachers from schools across Leh district. The training includes interactive workshops, practical activities, group discussions, and collaborative learning sessions aimed at enabling teachers to effectively implement innovative teaching practices in their classrooms.
The five-day programme will conclude with a valedictory session, during which participating teachers will share their experiences, key learnings, and action plans for integrating the newly acquired pedagogical techniques into classroom teaching.
