First meeting of Cricket association of Ladakh held

The first meeting of executives and members from Leh and Kargil was called by President, Dr. Skalzang Dorjey on December 8 after the official registration of Cricket association of Ladakh – CAL in Union Territory of Ladakh.

The meeting was attended by the President, executives and members of respective District Cricket associations.

The meeting primarily focussed on agendas and grievances relating to the district bodies and the overall upliftment of Cricket in Ladakh. The respective presidents presented their pertaining issues related to the two districts in which both the district presidents highlighted the problems and inconveniences caused by Ladakh being still governed by Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association.

Dr.Skalzang assured full commitment of CAL to getting affiliated to BCCI soon.

Discussion was also held on expansion of CAL executives to Sub division level, from which it will create a road map to identify neglected talents from remote villages of Ladakh as well. Various committees required to a state cricket body was also discussed and deliberated which further boosted in formation of a Ladakh Cricket Team soon.

Dr. Skalzang believes in building up of cricket stadiums in both the districts with time and adequate funding from BCCI. He also appreciates the efforts of the Hon’ble Chairman of both the districts and Secretary, Sports & youth Services, UT Ladakh for their support with land allotments and other funds for future cricket projects in both the districts.  

The meeting concluded with discussions on resolving of various issues and insecurities pertaining the particular districts.
