Fire & Fury Corps celebrates Infantry Day Wreaths laid in the honour of infantrymen who made supreme sacrifices, for the nation

Commemorating the martyrs who fought against Pakistani raiders in Jammu & Kashmir in 1947, 72nd Infantry day was celebrated with solemn by Fire & Fury Corps on October 27 at Hall of Fame.
 
Lt Gen YK Joshi, AVSM, VrC, SM, GOC Fire & Fury Corps laid the wreath and paid homage to the brave soldiers who made supreme sacrifice for the nation.
 
Addressing the Infantry soldiers, including the veteran war heroes, during a special Sainik Sammelan, Lt Gen YK Joshi complimented the Infantrymen for the devotion towards duty and indomitable spirit while serving under difficult conditions. He acknowledged their invaluable contribution in maintaining the sanctity of the nation’s borders in the Ladakh region.
 
As a special mark of respect and acknowledgment of their bravery and invaluable service to the nation, 20 veteran war heroes including  Ashok Chakra and Maha Veer Chakra awardees, who had fought during the 1962, 1971 and 1999 wars, were felicitated by the GOC- a Kargil War Hero himself.
 
Infantry Day is observed in commemoration of the first victorious military action led by the Infantry in Jammu and Kashmir after Independence to drive out Pakistani invaders. The troops of this battalion (4 Mechanised Infantry) were also part of the celebration.
 
The Infantry has a glorious history and an enviable combat record, having been awarded 17 Param Vir Chakras and 48 Ashok Chakras till date.
