CHANGTHANG :
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK ) Nyoma celebrated Kisan Divas on 23th December in Chanthang region to mark the 113th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, who toiled for the uplift of farmers in the country.  It was celebrated in order to reciprocate the hard labour of the farmers of Chanthang.

Over 51 farmers participated in the event. Kisan Divas is an acknowledgement of a strong and independent Indian farmer. Farmers were appreciated for their best performances in  growing vegetables in Nyoma block and showing enthusiasm in adopting the technology.

They were given solution on vegetable growing in protected cultivation during fall and spring season. They were also enlightened about the soil health and soil sampling technique.  They were motivated to grow fodder like alpha-alpha so that slowly they can combat the problem of fodder scarcity in the region.

It is observed as Kisan Divas or Farmers day across India. Since, farmers are the backbone of an economy, therefore, our nation celebrates Farmers Day in the memory of late Ch. Charan Singh, the ex-Prime Minister of India. He was primarily a farmer himself and his personal lifestyle was extremely simple.
