Executive Councillor, Mumtaz Hussain, raises issue of stranded pilgrims with officials

Mumtaz Hussain, EC, Minority Affairs, Hill Council, Leh discussed the issues faced by the stranded pilgrims in Iran with Mukhtar Abass Naqvi, Union Minister of Minority Affairs on March 18.

Mumtaz Hussian said that the stranded pilgrims of UT Ladakh in Iran are facing immense difficulties due to not having quarantine facility for Covid-19 positive cases. He urged the Minister to intervene in the matter.

Mukhtar Abass Naqvi assured that the ministry will take appropriate action on priority.

Later, Mumtaz Hussain also met MP Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and appreciated him for raising the issue in the Parliament and convincing the Govt of India to take immediate action for the evacuation of pilgrims stranded in Iran.  

He also met Iranian Ambassador to India, Gholamreza Ansari and urged for providing quarantine and other medical facilities to the stranded pilgrims in Iran. 

The Iranian Ambassador also assured to take up the matter immediately with the Iranian government.
