Er. Phunchok Tashi inaugurates newly constructed community halls in Karsha

In a significant step towards rural development and community welfare, Executive Councillor (EC), LAHDC Kargil, Er. Phunchok Tashi  inaugurated newly constructed Community Halls at Phay on November 7.

The projects were executed under the leadership of Councillor Stanzin Jigmath and Er. Phunchok Tashi, EC Zanskar, as part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to inclusive growth and infrastructure development across the region.

The newly built community halls—designed to serve as central spaces for social gatherings, meetings, and cultural programmes—were completed at an estimated cost of Rs 80 lakh for Phay, Rs 1.50 crore for Tungri, and Rs 1.63 crore for Langmi. Their inauguration marks another milestone in the LAHDC Kargil’s continued efforts to empower rural communities and improve public amenities at the grassroots level.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Councillor Stanzin Jigmath, BDO Zanskar Ali Yabgo, Executive Engineer ZDA/R&B Er. Vilayat Ali, AEE REW Samina Ali, the concerned Junior Engineer, village Lambardars, party members, monks, and a large gathering of local residents who came together to celebrate the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, EC Er. Phunchok Tashi expressed his satisfaction over the successful completion of the three community halls, noting that such infrastructure projects will play a vital role in promoting unity, cultural exchange, and social harmony among the people. He reaffirmed that these initiatives reflect the dedication of LAHDC Kargil and the UT Administration to strengthen rural infrastructure and ensure equitable development across Zanskar.

He further urged the residents of Phay, Tungri, and Langmi to take collective responsibility for maintaining the newly constructed facilities, ensuring their proper upkeep for future generations.

Speaking on the occasion, Councillor Stanzin Jigmath lauded the tireless efforts of EC Er. Phunchok Tashi, emphasizing that the successful completion of these community halls was made possible through close coordination between public representatives and the local administration.
