Environment awareness a matter of concern for the people of Ladakh: LEAF

Environment awareness rally was organised by Ladakh Students Environmental and Educational Action Forum (LEAF), on 8th July at Leh. The rally started from the Chowkhang Vihara & culminated at Deputy Commissioner Office, Leh. 

Ladakh Students Environmental and Educational Action Forum (LEAF), a joint Forum  is led by the trio student union operating outside Ladakh ,namely, Ladakh Students Welfare Society Delhi (LSWSD), All Ladakh Students Association Jammu (ALSAJ) and Ladakh Students Association Chandigarh (LSA CHD).

The rally aimed at spreading awareness amongst the general public about the environmental threats facing contemporary Ladakh.

Students from various schools of Leh participated in the rally with a slogan “Clean Ladakh, Green Ladakh” spreading awareness around the people of Leh. 

After the rally, all the students and other participants gathered at the Auditorium Hall near DC Office for the cultural event. The chief guest on the occasion was Executive Councilor Dr. Sonam Wangchuk.  
Tsewang Namgyal- Snow Leopard Conservancy, Sonam Wangchuk, SECMOL many other distinguished guests were also present.

The event started with the cultural performance by ALSAJ and LSWSD. The skit was presented by the members of LEAF on the importance of cleanliness and the fragile nature of Ladakh’s environment in particular.
 
The event concluded with the vote of thanks from Jigmet Dawa, Executive of LSWSD.
