Endurance on Ice: Pangong marathon draws hundreds of runners
The Pangong Frozen Lake Marathon 2026 commenced on February 24 and will continue over two days (February 24–25, 2026). The event is being organised by The Thin Ice Adventure in collaboration with the UT Administration Leh, Indian Oil Corporation (Servo) and other stakeholders.
The marathon features four race categories: 42 km and 10 km on Day 1, followed by 22 km and 6 km on Day 2 (February 25).
On the opening day, 46 runners participated in the 42 km category, while 185 runners competed in the 10 km race, demonstrating remarkable endurance and enthusiasm in extreme high-altitude conditions along the frozen expanse of Pangong Lake.
