EC Zakir Hussain discusses grievances of education department

Executive Councillor, School Education, LAHDC, Kargil, Zakir Hussain met the Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Ladakh at UT Secretariat Leh on December 7 and discussed many issues. 

The Director of Finance and Director of School Education, UT Ladakh was also present.

Discussion was held on the discontinuation of service of the J&KBOSE in UT Ladakh beyond the academic year 2021-2022.

Executive Councillor intimated that the regular facilities for Class 10th, 11th, and 12th students have been temporarily suspended due to J&KBOSE’s inability to extend its services beyond the academic year 2021-22 in UT Ladakh. He requested to take up the issue and put forth the overall aspects about the requirement and continuation of services of J&KBOSE in UT Ladakh in detail and accordingly requested to take up the matter with the UT Administration J&K.

The Principal Secretary promptly addressed the issue with the relevant authorities of UT Jammu and Kashmir. They assured that the JK BOSE portal would reopen shortly, allowing private institutions in UT Ladakh to complete the examination form submission. Additionally, they guaranteed that students enrolled in private institutions would not encounter any impediments in their academic progression.

Executive Councillor also put up the issue/grievances being faced by the institutions and students concerning the conduct of the winter classes in respect of the proper heating arrangement, transportation and manpower, etc. for smooth conduct of the winter classes.

The Principal Secretary assured the EC that all possible help will be provided by the UT Administration for the smooth conduct of winter classes and also suggested that the services of teachers qualifying for M.Sc. Mathematics/ Science and presently working in Middle Schools may also be utilized for the conduct of winter classes.

The Executive Councillor urged using Contractual Lecturers for winter classes and increasing their pay. The Principal Secretary, after listening to the concern, instructed the Director of Finance to devise a plan to enhance the remuneration of contractual lecturers if their services are utilized for winter classes.

He also discussed supporting Government Middle and High Schools with manpower and infrastructure for improved education. The Principal Secretary assured full backing from the UT Administration for this initiative.
