Executive Councillor for RDD, Forest, Information and Zanskar Development Authority, LAHDC Kargil, Er. Punchok Tashi conducted a surprise inspection of the Tehsil Library Zanskar on March 17, currently functioning from the old hostel building of HSS Padum, to assess the facilities available for students.

During the visit, the librarian requested shifting the library to the newly constructed building developed by RDD Zanskar, along with the provision of heating facilities and additional staff, noting that at present only one staff member is managing the library.

Later, Er. Tashi, accompanied by the BDO Zanskar and ZEPO Zanskar, visited the newly constructed public library, which is nearing completion. He directed the BDO Zanskar to expedite the process of handing over the building to the Tehsil Library authorities so that operations can be shifted at the earliest.

The Executive Councillor also visited Middle School Stara village, where he interacted with teachers, SMDC members, students, and parents, and appreciated their efforts in increasing school enrolment. The VEC members raised several important issues related to the school, and Er. Tashi assured them of all possible assistance from LAHDC.

On the occasion, the EC provided a computer set with a printer and a tarpaulin for the school under CCDA.

During the visit, the ZEO Zanskar, BDO Zanskar, and Officer Commanding (OC) Army, Captain Ranga Abhilash, accompanied the Executive Councillor.
