EC Punchok Tashi applauds VEC for boosting school enrollment in Zanskar
Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Er. Punchok Tashi, visited various schools in Zanskar on March 25 where enrollment has increased due to the collective efforts of ZEPO Zanskar, parents, and VEC members.
The Executive Councillor, accompanied by ZEO Tsewang Dorjay, visited Government Primary School Khisharak and interacted with parents, Village Education Committee (VEC) members, staff, and students to gather firsthand information about the school.
The VEC warmly welcomed the EC and presented several demands, including a new school building, adequate staff, and essential digital equipment such as computers and a PA system.
Later, the EC visited Government Middle School Pipiting, where he interacted with teachers, School Management and Development Committee (SMDC) members, students, and parents. He appreciated their role in increasing school enrollment. The VEC members also raised important issues, including the need for a new school building and subject-specific teachers.
EC Tashi assured the VEC members and parents of all government schools that LAHDC Kargil would extend all possible assistance. He also appreciated their initiative in sending their children to government schools within their villages.
During the visit, the EC inspected the newly constructed school building at BMS Padum, which is expected to be handed over for functioning within two days. He directed the Executive Engineer, R&B, to clear debris from the school premises and ensures its proper handover to the ZEO Zanskar.
