DLSA, District Health Society organise free health camp on World Health Day

On the occasion of World Health Day, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kargil, under the aegis of the Ladakh Legal Services Authority, organised a free medical camp on April 7 in collaboration with the District Health Society, Kargil, at the District Court Complex, Kurbathang.

The camp was inaugurated by Sheikh Gowher Hussain, Principal District & Sessions Judge and Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Kargil, in the presence of Sadiq Ali Wazir, Munsiff JMIC Sankoo, members of the Bar Association Kargil, Legal Aid Defence Counsels, court staff, para legal volunteers, and members of the general public.

The medical team included Dr. Hannan Wani and Dr. Murakeen, along with a pharmacist, Community Health Officer (CHO), lab assistants, and paramedical staff.

The free medical camp offered a wide range of diagnostic and screening services, including haemoglobin testing, random blood sugar, hypertension screening, liver and kidney function tests (LFT and KFT), urine routine tests, oral cancer screening, sputum tests for TB/AFB, VIA-based cervical cancer screening, breast cancer screening, dental consultation, and cataract screening.

A total of around 115 individuals were examined during the camp. Samples were collected for various diagnostic tests. Among the beneficiaries, 15 women were screened for breast cancer, around 17 individuals underwent dental consultations and oral cancer screening, and 33 people availed vision and cataract screening services.

The initiative aimed to promote health awareness and provide accessible medical services to the public, marking a meaningful observance of World Health Day.
