Div Com, Ladakh, assesses labour requirements with engineers, contractors; shares lockdown advisory

Saugat Biswas, Divisional Commissioner, Ladakh convened a meeting today to discuss arrangements regarding carrying out of various works in both the districts of Ladakh after the recent relaxation advisory issued by MHA which came into effect on April 20. 

Deliberations were also held for the roadmap for the coming working season amidst COVID19.

After a threadbare discussion with the Chief Engineers of Public Works, Public Health Engineering, Power Development Departments and Presidents and members of Contractor Associations of both Leh and Kargil districts, Div Com urged contractors to submit projection of requirement of labours in a skill-set wise list, and supply requirements to work out a proper roadmap to utilize the current working season. 
 
As per MHA guidelines works on construction activities, irrigation facilities, and all kinds of industrial projects in rural areas will be allowed while the continuation of on-going works in construction projects, within the limits of municipalities shall be allowed where workers are available on-site (in-situ) and no workers are required to be brought at the worksite daily.
 
Saugat Biswas impressed upon the contractors to ensure strict follow-up of the lockdown advisory of face mask, water and soap for the labours on the work sites. And also ensure a complete ban on smoking cigarettes, gutka and spitting in places throughout the working season. 
 
Kargil based officers and members of Contractor Association attended the meeting through video conference.
